But its eternity and its unity must be accepted.”16 Put another way, being is “not from any existing thing, for then there would be another, preexisting being.”17 This means “there is no becoming; there is only being.” Logically and ontologically being “is something identical with itself, something for which there is neither development nor time.”18 Parmenides
